How credits work
The unit, the allowance, and the three rules behind most questions.
One credit is one standard AI output. Generate a single image and you've used one credit. Heavier tools cost more — a 3D render is five credits, and animation depends on length and model tier. The full list is in What each action costs.
Four things explain most of what you'll see:
- Credits belong to a person, not a team. Every member on your account gets their own monthly allowance. Credits don't pool, and one member can't draw on another member's unused balance.
- They reset every month. At the start of each credit month, every balance returns to the plan's full amount.
- They don't roll over. Whatever you don't use is gone at reset. There's no bank, no carryover, and no refund for unused credits.
- Only successful work is charged. Failed generations are never billed.
Your plan's monthly credits
| Plan | Credits per member, per month | Can go past the allowance? |
|---|---|---|
| Student | 220 | Yes — at $0.50/credit, with a card on file |
| Educator | 750 | Yes — at $0.50/credit, with a card on file |
| Individual | 120 | No |
| Basic | 500 | Yes — at $0.50/credit |
| Professional | 750 | Yes — at $0.50/credit |
Starting for free
Anyone can sign up and use up to 50 free credits, no card required. These are a one-time allocation rather than a monthly allowance — they don't reset. Once they're used up, you'll be prompted to choose a plan to keep working.
Changing plans: upgrades take effect right away. Downgrades are scheduled for the end of your current billing period, so you keep your current allowance until that period ends.
Credit reset and billing date are two different dates
The single most common source of confusion, especially on annual contracts.
Your credits reset monthly — always. That's true whether you're billed monthly or annually.
Your invoice follows your billing schedule, which may be monthly or annual.
If you're on an annual contract, you're billed once a year but you receive a fresh allowance twelve times over that year. The annual price covers twelve monthly allowances, delivered one month at a time — not one large pool to spend whenever you like.
They're coming, one month at a time. Your allowance resets on the same monthly schedule as everyone else's.
The time until reset countdown on your Credit Usage page always refers to the credit reset, never the invoice date.
What each action costs
Resolution changes several of these — read the two notes below the table before planning a large run.
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| Standard single generation | 1 |
| Agent chat and agent-triggered work | Charged — agent activity draws down your allowance like any other AI work |
| Studio — Virtual Try-On, Multi-View | 2 |
| Inpaint / Ask AI | 1 (2 at 4K) |
| Lifestyle | 1 (2 at 4K) |
| Color variations / recolor | 1 (2 at 4K) |
| Apply pattern | 1 (2 with realism at 4K) |
| Upscale | 1 (2 at 14K) |
| SVG export / download | 1 |
| Render to 3D | 5 |
| Retailer readiness | 3 per accepted output image |
| Animate | Scales with video length. The per-unit rate depends on the model tier you choose, with the premium tier costing several times the standard rate. |
| Batch On-Body | 2 per image |
Several actions cost double at 4K. If you leave resolution on Auto and your input image is large, Auto resolves to the 4K rate — and the action costs twice what you expected. Set the resolution explicitly when you want predictable costs.
SVG export costs a credit. Most actions after generation are free, but this one isn't.
Work that doesn't cost credits
- Failed generations. If a batch of 20 returns 15 usable images, you're charged for 15.
- Guided tours and onboarding workflows, up to a per-user limit.
Where to see your credits
Your balance is always visible while you work. The full picture lives on the Credit Usage page.
Admins can open Credit Usage to see, for the current cycle:
- Total credits used across the account
- A per-member usage breakdown
- Which members have gone past their allowance
- Estimated overage cost
- Time until the next reset
- Any shared credits on the account
- A month-by-month history
Why your balance sometimes reads lower than you expect
Running batches reserve credits. The balance shown in the app subtracts credits already committed to work that's still processing. If you have 40 credits and the app shows 12, you almost certainly have batches in flight. The number corrects itself as those batches finish.
Alerts and messages
The app shows at most one credit message at a time, and the most urgent one wins.
| What's happening | What you'll see |
|---|---|
| You don't have enough credits for the action you're attempting | A blocking message you can't dismiss |
| You're close to being blocked — roughly 50 credits left (20 on Individual) | A warning you can dismiss for the session |
| You've just crossed into overage | A heads-up you can dismiss |
| You're approaching overage — about 25 credits left | A heads-up you can dismiss |
Dismissals last for the rest of your credit cycle and clear automatically at reset. If you dismissed a warning last month and it's back this month, that's by design — it's a fresh cycle.
Admins can see who is close to their allowance at any time on the Credit Usage page.
What happens when you run out
It depends on your plan.
On Individual, work stops at zero. You'll be blocked from generating until your next monthly reset, or until you upgrade.
On Basic and Professional, you can keep working past your allowance with overage, billed at $0.50 per credit.
On Student and Educator, overage is available at the same $0.50 per credit once you've added a card to your account. Without a card on file, work pauses at zero until your next monthly reset.
How overage works
- Each member has an overage limit on top of their monthly allowance — how far past zero they're allowed to go. The default is 500 credits per member.
- Admins control this per member from the Credit Usage page: raise a member's limit, lower it, or set it to unlimited.
- Once a member's balance passes zero, further usage is billed at $0.50 per credit. The Credit Usage page shows a running estimate of your overage cost in dollars at that rate — useful for planning, though your invoice is the authoritative number.
- When a member reaches their allowance plus their overage limit, they're blocked until the next reset or until an admin raises the limit.
- Overage resets with your allowance at the start of each cycle.
If a member's balance shows as a negative number, that's the overage they've accrued this cycle. It clears at the next monthly reset.
Can credits move between people?
No. Allowances are per member and can't be transferred, pooled, or reassigned — not between teammates, and not from one workspace to another.
If a member consistently needs more than their allowance, the options are to raise their overage limit, move them to a higher plan, or talk to your account team about shared credits.
Teams and multiple workspaces
Most accounts have their own billing: the workspace holds its own contract and pays for itself.
Larger organizations sometimes use parent billing, where several workspaces roll up to one paying entity. If that's your setup, the invoice consolidates — but usage, allowances, and limits are still tracked per workspace and per member, so you keep the same visibility into who is using what.
Getting the most out of your credits
- Set resolution deliberately. Auto is convenient, but on large inputs it resolves to 4K and doubles the cost of the action. Choosing the resolution yourself makes spend predictable.
- Batch on-body work together. A single garment costs 5 credits; run several in one batch and each garment costs 4.
- Generate at standard resolution, upscale what you keep. Exploring at 4K costs double on every attempt. It's usually cheaper to explore at standard resolution and upscale only the outputs you'll actually use.
- Remember SVG exports are billable. Export the files you need, not everything in the set.
- Watch the per-member breakdown. Credit Usage shows who's running close to their allowance well before anyone gets blocked, so admins can adjust limits in advance rather than in response to a stoppage.
- Reserve 3D and animation for finals. At 5 credits and up, these are among the priciest actions in the product — best spent on work you've already settled on.
Troubleshooting
"My balance looks wrong." Work through these first.
- Do you have work in progress? Running batches reserve credits, so your displayed balance will be lower than your raw balance until they finish.
- Are you on an annual plan? You receive one month's allowance at a time, not the full year's.
- Are you looking at your invoice date rather than your reset date? They're different, and credits reset monthly regardless of billing schedule.
- Did you use Auto resolution on large images? Those actions may have cost double.
- Are you expecting a teammate's unused credits? Allowances don't pool.
- Did you recently purchase additional credits? If you've bought a top-up and don't see it reflected in the app, contact support — we can make sure it's applied.
If none of these explain what you're seeing — or you're blocked with credits still on your balance and nothing running — contact support. It helps to include your organization name, the member affected, what they were trying to do, the number shown in the app, and roughly when it happened.
Legacy pricing
If your account is on our previous pricing, you use a different credit system, and the plans, allowances, overage rules, and reset behavior described here don't apply. Your account team can walk you through how your specific agreement works.
